Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2026-07-01
Welcome to CartOrCarry. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CartOrCarry website, web application, and related services (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, or by purchasing scan credits or a pass, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by Youngnae Son, an individual based in Japan ("we", "us", or "our").
- Service name: CartOrCarry
- Website: https://cartorcarry.com
- Support email: siverse2025@gmail.com
You can contact us at any time using the support email above.
2. What the Service does
CartOrCarry is a price-comparison utility that helps you decide whether to buy an item in a physical store or order it online (for example, via direct overseas purchase). The Service lets you capture a price using your device camera or a screenshot, and it then assists by recognizing the price and product name, converting currencies, and estimating a comparison that may include factors such as shipping and import-related costs.
To recognize prices and product names from images, the Service uses automated optical character recognition (OCR) and artificial-intelligence vision technology. The Service does not generate creative content; it is a utility that reads and compares prices.
The Service is provided for informational purposes only. See Section 9 (No advice; accuracy) before relying on any result.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be the age of majority in your country of residence, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to use the Service.
- To use certain features you must create an account and verify your email address. You agree to provide accurate, current information and to keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- One account per person. Creating multiple accounts, or using disposable or automatically generated email addresses, in order to obtain additional free allowances is prohibited (see Section 8).
4. Scans, credits, and passes
The Service uses a scan as its unit of usage. A scan is consumed each time the Service performs an automated recognition (OCR/AI) on an image you provide. Using the comparison calculator itself does not consume a scan.
Free allowances.
- New accounts receive a one-time welcome allowance of free scans on sign-up.
- Each account also receives a recurring monthly allowance of free scans, which resets each month and does not roll over.
Credit packs and passes (paid). We offer:
- Credit packs (e.g. Starter, Standard, Deluxe) — a fixed number of scans, valid for a limited period (currently one year from purchase) after which any unused scans expire.
- Period passes (e.g. 7-day, 30-day) — use the Service within the pass period subject to a fair-use daily scan limit.
The exact prices, scan counts, validity periods, and daily limits are shown on our website and at checkout, and may change from time to time. Changes do not affect packs or passes you have already purchased.
General rules for credits and passes.
- Credits and passes have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and are non-transferable.
- Unused credits and unexpired passes expire at the end of their validity period.
- We may apply reasonable technical rate limits to protect the Service from abuse.
5. Payments and Merchant of Record
When you make a purchase, our order process and payments are handled by our online reseller, Paddle.com, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all our orders. This means that Paddle, not us, is the seller of record for your purchase; Paddle handles the payment, applicable taxes, billing, and related customer-service inquiries.
Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms and Conditions and Paddle's Privacy Policy, which you accept at checkout. Prices shown may be exclusive of taxes that Paddle is required to add at checkout depending on your location.
We do not collect or store your full payment-card details. Payment information is processed by Paddle and its payment partners.
6. Delivery of credits
Scan credits or pass access are delivered to your account automatically and electronically once Paddle confirms your payment. There is no physical product and nothing to ship. If your credits are not applied within a reasonable time after a successful payment, contact us at siverse2025@gmail.com and we will resolve it.
7. Refunds
Our refund terms are set out in our separate Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary, because scans are a digital product that is consumed on use:
- Unused credits may be refundable within the period stated in the Refund Policy.
- Credits that have already been consumed, and passes that have already been used, are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law or where the Service failed to deliver as described.
Because Paddle is the Merchant of Record, refunds are processed by Paddle in accordance with the Refund Policy and Paddle's Buyer Terms.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- create multiple accounts, or use disposable/auto-generated emails, to obtain extra free scans or otherwise circumvent usage limits;
- access the Service through automated means (bots, scrapers, scripts) except as expressly permitted;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or scans without our permission;
- interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms.
We may suspend or terminate accounts, and revoke free or paid allowances obtained through abuse, where we reasonably believe this section has been breached.
9. No advice; accuracy of results
The Service relies on automated recognition (OCR/AI), third-party exchange-rate data, and estimates that you provide or that the Service approximates. As a result:
- Recognized prices and product names may contain errors; you should verify them before relying on them.
- Currency conversions are indicative and may differ from the rate your bank or card issuer applies.
- Any shipping, customs, duty, or tax figures are estimates only and may differ from amounts actually charged.
Results are provided for general information and convenience only and do not constitute financial, tax, customs, or purchasing advice. All purchasing decisions are your own, and we are not responsible for those decisions or their outcomes.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text, and logos, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as permitted by law.
"CartOrCarry" and our logos are our marks and may not be used without our prior written permission.
11. Third-party services
The Service depends on third parties, including Paddle (payments / Merchant of Record), cloud and AI providers used for recognition, and exchange-rate data providers. Your use of those features may be subject to the relevant third party's terms. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.
12. Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, including a free tier that may be limited or rate-controlled. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, and we may change features, limits, prices, or these Terms. Where changes materially affect you, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, on the website). Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, savings, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, or from reliance on any result it produces. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (via Paddle) for the Service in the three (3) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against reasonable losses and costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, to the extent permitted by law and to the extent such losses are caused by you.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or to comply with law. On termination, unused credits may be forfeited to the extent permitted by law and the Refund Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 9, 10, 13, 14, and 16) survive termination.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of Japan, and the courts of Tokyo, Japan will have jurisdiction, except that:
- purchase transactions are additionally governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms; and
- if you are a consumer, you continue to benefit from any mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of the country where you reside, and nothing in these Terms removes those rights.
